The internet revolution of this millennium has changed the world
to an extent that not only variety of information sharing is possible across
the world, but people across the world can actively engage in productive
activities through online jobs.
This, however, lacks an important aspect of employer/employee
relationship, which is working contact. Initiated during the
interview, this aspect develops further to create a bond and sense of
belongingness in the human elements involved in the work environment.
Over a period of time, individuals gain credibility in profession, which they
carry when they move on to greener pastures.
The same individual, when gets into the domain of online work
arena, his credibility gets neutralised, especially if he is not already
working in the IT industry actively. His skills, competence and
credibility require to be proven again. The absence of the
conventional methods of contacts, which us humans are normally used to, makes
it further difficult.
The individual then has to learn the tricks of the trade for
gaining online jobs, methods to present his skills to the prospective employers
and the modern ways to convey the final product to him. Gaining these
additional skills alone does not guarantee that the job would be available. The
existing online work-force, which is already tested by the prospective
employers, makes it difficult for them to switch over to a new untested one.
The new-comers in this field, mostly as freelancers need to be aware
that till such time they start getting some work and gain some credibility, the
inflow of work would remain lean. At the same time, the employers also need to
be aware that the fact, that a new freelancer does not have something to
flaunt, does not indicate that he is unskilled or incompetent. For
all one knows, he may be one of the best that one has seen so far.
The
new aspirants of online jobs are urged to continue on their path to further
their skills and remember that the world is not that big anymore. May god
bless you all.
