Millions of Australians log into
Facebook every day. If you are on Facebook you will have seen the ads that
appear down the right hand side of the page these are Facebook ads. They work
similar to a newspaper or magazine ad in that the people are not necessarily
looking for what you have to offer but catch their interest and they will have
a look.
Successful campaigns have been and
are being run on Facebook.
Facebook advertising is similar to Google
in that you pay for clicks or you can pay for impressions (displaying your ad)
How do advertise on Facebook ?
There are 2 different
ways you can advertise on Facebook .
- Create an ad that directs people to your OHB website. Go to http://www.facebook.com/advertising/ click on create an ad. The set up process is easy to follow. (There is an overview of this process later in this document)
- Set up a Facebook page that talks about safer naturally based products etc and from there set up an ad campaign for that page, http://www.facebook.com/advertising/?pages chose for business. Facebook pages are free to set up and Facebook provide other marketing avenues within Facebook for these pages.(There is an overview of this process later in this document)
Some important things to remember with Facebook advertising.
1.
You cannot advertise a home business on Facebook in the
advertising guidelines it states under Prohibited Content “Get rich schemes and other money making
opportunities that offer compensation for little or no investment including
money making schemes positioned as an alternative to full time or part time
employment.”
2.
You CAN advertise our phenomenal products.
3.
Facebook are particular with grammar correct spelling,
sentence structure no capitalisation, correct grammatical punctuation not
capitalising words for impact. Correct punctuation, symbols cannot be used in
pace of words e.g. $ and &. Etc
4.
If you are using an OHB
website you will need to ensure your landing page is one that talks about the
company and products not the business opportunity so the landing page matches
the ad content. If your ad directs people to a Facebook page this won’t be a
problem.
5.
Read the Terms and Conditions for complete details on these.
How to set up you Facebook Ad.
Step 1. CONTENT
·
Put in you destination URL this is the page that anyone who
clicks on your ad will be taken to it does not have to be the home page. You will have to enter this manually if you
are using your OHB site and if using a Facebook page this will be pre populated
for you
·
Title give your ad a catchy heading you want to catch
peoples attention. ( 25 characters.)
·
Keep it simple you want them to find out more you have 135
characters.
·
Think about adding an image you can upload a picture, this
example is an ad currently being run.
Step 2 TARGETING
- You can define your target market with numerous filters. Age, Location, Sex, Keywords, Education, Workplace, Connections, Relationship status or interest and Language.
- Keywords are based on information users list in their Facebook profiles, such as Activities, Favorite Books, TV Shows, Movies, etc.
- Connections are fans of your Page, users who have used your Application, users who have RSVP'd YES or MAYBE to your Event, and members of your Group.
- Friends of connections targeting delivers ads to the friends of people already connected with your Page, Application, Group or Event.
- When putting keywords or occupations type the first few letters of the words and Facebook will produce a drop down list to choose from. Have a good think about keywords for these tools and play around with this there is so many available think outside the square, peoples interests places of work etc you can really target a specific market.
- As you add keywords, Workplaces etc you will see how many people your ad will target.
Step 3 CAMPAIGN AND PRICING
Choose a name for your campaign
Decide if
you want CPC or CPM
- CPC or pay per click- You pay each time someone clicks on your ad. You set your bid, the amount you will pay if someone clicks on your ad. If you put your bid at $0.35 you will pay that amount each time someone clicked on your ad and is directed to your website.
- CPM – pay for impressions, you pay per 1000 displays (impressions) of your ad. If you set your bid at $0.15 per 1000 impressions you would be charged that amount every 1000 displays of your ad and nothing for people clicking on the ad.
- You can also set you daily budget. A daily budget of $3.00 will give you going on the above CPC $0.35 will be approx 8- 9 clicks per day and CPM $0.15 will give you approx 21,000 impressions and unlimited clicks. Minimum budget is $1.00 per day.
Step 4 SUBMIT
Submit your ad for
approval this is usually done within 24 hours. If your ad is rejected you will
be told exactly why and can make the necessary adjustment and resubmit. If your
ad is approved your ad will be up and running.
